Possibly the World's best beach-break and quite likely the heaviest! Tropical storms send swell via a deep water trench straight onto the beach with practically no loss of power. The result is a board-breakingly heavy, spitting, barreling beast of a wave that truly lives up to the comparison with the original Pipeline

Despite being one of the best waves in the World it is quite easy to have a very bad time here. The fact that it breaks over sand is little consolation considering the various other bad things that can happen to you here!

From hardcore, Sunny Garcia style locals to shark attacks, gun crime to virtually guaranteed board breakage Puerto Escondido has it all!

There is also the fact that like many of the World’s great waves there is a fine line between perfection and closing out. The Mexican Pipe has its fair share of close outs
