Tropic of Cancer Beach (Pelican Beach)
Also known as Pelican Beach, Tropic of Cancer Beach is one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in the Bahamas. Located on the island of Little Exuma, this long stretch of powder white sand meets the clear turquoise of the Caribbean Sea, creating a peaceful and untouched paradise.
The beach gets its name from the Tropic of Cancer, the latitude line that passes directly through it, marking the northernmost point where the sun is directly overhead during the summer solstice.
This secluded beach offers a quiet escape, free from crowds and with only limited commercial development. Stretching for nearly a mile, there’s plenty of space for visitors to relax, take a walk, or simply enjoy the view. The shallow, calm waters are perfect for swimming, while the crystal clear sea makes it an excellent spot for snorkelling.
With no major resorts or restaurants nearby, Tropic of Cancer Beach feels like a bit of a hidden gem. Many visitors bring their own snacks and drinks to enjoy a peaceful day by the sea. Whether you’re looking for a scenic escape or a quiet place to swim and sunbathe, this beach captures the untouched beauty of the Exumas.
