Second Beach, located near La Push on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, is a stunning coastal destination known for its dramatic sea stacks, often wild seas and rugged natural beauty. Part of Olympic National Park, the beach is accessed via a short but scenic hike through lush coastal rainforest. Moss-draped trees and ferns create an almost mystical atmosphere before opening up to the expansive shoreline.

The beach itself features soft, golden sand framed by towering cliffs and scattered driftwood, bleached and shaped by the elements of the Pacific coast. Offshore, huge sea stacks rise from the water, creating an iconic backdrop, especially at sunset when the sky is painted with vibrant colours. As the tide recedes, visitors can explore tide pools teeming with sea anemones, starfish, and crabs, while eagles and seabirds soar overhead.

Of course Second Beach is a popular spot for photographers. But it also draws campers, and those seeking solitude along Washington’s wild coast. While the waves make it less suitable for casual swimming due to strong currents, the beach is the very essence of the raw beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
